3. Javier Baez

This take is certainly unpopular but Javier Baez to me is the third baseman in baseball. I have expressed how I believe Baez is overrated, however, he is still one of the best players at his positions. It was close between Baez and Xander Bogaerts of the Boston Red Sox for this spot, however, the defense played a huge factor in Baez getting the nod. Baez is a great ballplayer he has some pop in his swing and has good speed. His problem is drawing walks and getting on base. His OBP last season was below .320 which is not good at all.

2. Trevor Story

Right above one of the leagues most overrated players in the league is maybe one of the most underappreciated. Trevor Story can really do it all. He will hit 35 home runs and an average just around .300. Not only that he is lightning quick and is a great base runner as he has the potential to steal 30 bases in a season. His glove, while not as good as Baez's is still great. Story gets the spot over Baez for the fact he is a more complete shortstop and does not struggle to get on base.

1. Francisco Lindor

What's not to love about Mr. Smiles? He's one of the best switch hitters in the league, can hit for power and average, has decent speed and provides gold glove defense at short. He will hit around .280 and hit for over 30 home runs in a season consistently. He also has the clutch gene too as he has come up big for the Indians on numerous occasions. Lindor is without a question one the best shortstops in the league however, that may change in a few years with the abundance of young talent taking over the position.
