When using the term overrated for an MLB player, people will probably think of Bryce Harper. However, Bryce Harper is not overrated. Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez is among the names who are truly overrated. Yes, he flashes a nice glove and is most certainly a flashy player, however people think he is among the top players in baseball, which is just not the case.

An aspect of Baez's game that is most certainly not overrated is his defense. He is one of the best shortstops in the league with the leather. However, his offensive value is certainly overrated. His biggest issue is that he can not get on base at an elite clip. Even in 2018 where he finished as the runner-up for MVP, he only had an OBP of .326 which is shockingly low.
Now don't get me wrong, Baez is a great player and has some pop in his bat. However, people think he is better than players such as Matt Chapman, Freddie Freeman, and Ronald Acuna Jr. The brutal truth is that Javier Baez should be rated at around the same spot as Bryce Harper. I know you guys don't want to hear that, but look at the stats, it is true.
